Cockroach Drone - Access and Combat Recommendations

Access Directions

Complete the Stronghold of Player Safety, which gives you unrestricted access to the dungeon below where the cockroaches are found.

The fastest way to get to these is to use the main entrance from which you first enter the dungeon (not the crevice shortcut). Enter the front door and go down the stairs. Find the poster in the middle-west cell and go down to the dungeon, then run north past the muggers. There are a bunch of drones in the hallways and small rooms in the northwest corner of the floor.

Equipment

These are low-level monsters so any standard gear is fine. Very high-level players could even get by without any armor at all...

Supplies

I recommend a super attack and super strength potion to increase your kill speed; I use one potion per hour (half my normal amount) since these are low level.

Low-level and mid-level players need food; high-level players do not.

Familiar

These monsters drop enough herbs that I recommend a magpie to improve your herb drop quality when fighting them. An alternative is to bring a good best beast of burden to help you carry back herb drops, but I prefer the macaw, especially given how expensive high-level herbs are these days.

Combat Notes

The biggest nuisance with these bugs is the stupid five-second melodrama when they die, so after each kill I recommend moving on to the next one and then returning for the drop later.

The area is multicombat so you can use a combat familiar if you wish, though at 110 LP there's not much point!

These monsters are easy to kill and have decent herb and rune drops, as well as providing nice amounts of noted coal for Smithing.
