Undead cow - Access and Combat Recommendations

Access Directions

Use your ectophial to get to the Ectofuntus, then use it on the Ectofuntus to refill it. Exit north, then run west to the farm; the cow pen is just past the undead chickens.

Equipment

For low-levels, standard melee, ranged or magic gear as appropriate. High-level players don't need armor and are better off using weight-reducing gear.

Wear a ring of duelling for quick banking.

Supplies

Food is needed for very low-level players only.

Familiar

A beast of burden is handy for carrying cowhides. Bear in mind that war tortoise pouches are very expensive, so I recommend a spirit terrorbird until you can summon a pack yak.

Combat Notes

Like regular cows, these monsters are very simple to kill. If you are high enough level to get to Port Phasmatys, you'll have no trouble with them.

Drop Notes

These easy monsters are actually the fastest way to get cowhides in the game, even slightly faster than killing the Cow / Cow Calf combination at the Crafting Guild. The main reason is that they have an unusually fast respawn time of only 3 seconds. They are also quick to get to using the ectophial. Also, if you collect hides here you don't need to recharge amulets or necklaces. On the downside, they do not drop charms (while regular cows do, if not many). And of course there is no tanner nearby.

Note that even though the meat dropped by undead cows is called "raw beef", it is rancid (green in color) and cannot be eaten, nor used in place of real raw beef in Cooking or for Summoning.
