Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

A Wealth of Information - What the Beastopedia Can Tell You

Sponsored links help make RuneScoop possible; RuneScoop members don't see them. See here for more information about ads.

As mentioned in the overview, my main objective with the Beastopedia was to greatly expand upon the normal monster guides one typically finds on RuneScape fan sites. The Beastopedia is intended to let you find the answers to the questions you may have when you decide to fight a monster for fun, for drops, to complete a Slayer assignment, or for any other reason.

Here in more detail, is some of what you can learn from the RuneScoop Beastopedia.

Monster Information

  • If you’ve never killed a monster before, you need to start with the basics, and of course, the Beastopedia has them. Each monster’s page includes the following key data:

  • The monster’s full name, “Examine” text, combat level and number of life points.

  • The monster’s maximum melee, ranged and magic hit.

  • Any special attacks or defences the monster possesses.

  • Whether or not the monster is poisonous, and if so, what type of poison (contact or successful hit) and maximum damage.

  • Whether or not the beast is a Slayer monster. If it is, you’ll see the monster’s Slayer level, which Slayer master assigns it, how many are assigned, and any alternatives to it if available.

There’s also a full color picture of each monster, provided in the context of its lair, often taken while in combat.

Combat Planning Details and Mechanics

Knowing what a beast is like is one thing, but knowing how to fight it is another. This is where players who are new to a particular monster often need help, and the Beastopedia is ready to provide it. Since I’ve fought every monster in the database myself, I tell you all of the following:

  • The location or locations of the monsters, with basic directions of how to get to them. Also listed are any quest or skill requirements needed to reach the monsters, and which location I prefer if there’s more than one.

  • Which combat style I recommend for fighting the monster, with an eye towards maximizing kill speed.

  • Whether or not you can use a cannon, and if so, whether or not I recommend it.

  • What equipment I suggest for fighting each monster using various combat styles.

  • What supplies you should bring with.

  • How to maximize killing speed and drop value, while minimizing supply cost and banking time.

  • How difficult the monster is to fight, and how best to go about killing it. This includes tips such as when to use food as opposed to prayer, how to use safe spots where relevant, ways to avoid damage in combat, and much more.

  • What familiar I recommend using.

This information is only present in the members’ only site.

Drop Lists and Drop Logs

Even though there are lots of reasons to fight monsters other than their drops, let’s face it: the goodies are what most of us are after! J The Beastopedia has the best drop information around, including the following:

  • A list of “100% drops” that are guaranteed for each monster kill.

  • A full catalog of known and suspected random drops.

  • An indication of approximately how many Summoning charms of each color to expect per hour of combat, plus ratings of charm value to let you compare monsters.

  • If a monster consistently drops a good number of a valuable resource, an approximation of how many you can expect to get per hour.

  • Detailed drop logs showing the exact items obtained from fighting the monster, usually with a minimum of one hour of combat (and sometimes much more).

  • Shared drop logs for multiple monster types when they are typically fought at the same time.

This information is only present in the members’ only site.

Summary Tables

In addition to the individual monster pages, the Beastopedia includes several summary tables to help you find monsters quickly and compare them to each other. All of these tables are also sortable, so you can quickly organize the data in the way that makes most sense to you! The tables include:

  • A master index that lists all the monsters in the Beastopedia, and lets you sort them alphabetically or by combat level, life points total, maximum hit and more.

  • A comprehensive drop source list, which shows you every monster that can potentially drop every item.

  • A “good sources” list, which tells you at a glance the best monsters to get important resources.

  • A set of resource tables that tell you which monsters drop runes, ores and bars.

  • A listing of monsters that drop herbs with an approximate number you can get from each per hour.

  • A table of monsters that drop charms, along with both efficiency and XP ratings for typical drops obtained per hour, so you can decide which monsters to kill if you want to train Summoning.

All that and more awaits you in the Beastopedia!
