Elite Black Knights: An Abridgement of a Comprehensive Guide

Postby Doomedrusher » Thu Dec 04, 2008 9:26 pm

A player gains access to elite black knights after completing a portion of While Guthix Sleeps; the knights are found in their underground dungeon, accessible via Black Knight's fortress, among Dark Warriors, rangers, and mages.

Why would you want to kill these?
-They are a painless way for you to gain white knight ranking.
-Some are located in a PvP hotspot that no one goes to.
-They have semi-decent drops that consist of a good amount of super restore potions.

The Elite Black Knights and the assorted dark soldiers are experienced in the skill of Prayer, and will thus call help from Zamorak to defend them against every attack style! After taking a total of 20 hits, however, Zamorak abandons the NPC and they become vulnerable to all attacks. Their prayer is 100% effective, unlike the KQ. Full Verac DOES penetrate the prayer, albeit rarely.

-Smite does not help drain their prayer.
-The Ancient mace does not drain their prayer either.
-They no longer seem to drop elite black knight armour after the quest. If they do, it must be super rare.

The knights are adept at prayer switching, and will switch against a particular combat style after taking a total of 15 damage from that combat style, poison excluded.

As they only use melee attacks, safespotting is possible, and quite easy, around the various poles in the fortress.

Each Elite Black Knight counts as 10 black knights towards your Wanted! White knight ranking.

The black knights are bent on defending their lair from strangers at all costs and will attack anyone they do not recognize as one of their own. Protection from aggressiveness can be achieved with either a full set of elite black or Dagon'hai robes.

The knights drop a decent amount of food, prayer/super restore potions, and a generous quantity of noted bars (although infrequent between drops), along with the occasional alchable. If they drop charms, it must be very rare, because I have not gotten a single one from them. They drop coins very frequently, often in increments near 1k. Alchemy is your friend.

Setups:
Generalized Inventory:
-Emergency Teleport of some sort
-Alchemy runes
-Special attack weaponry (Saradomin godsword recommended if you own one)
-Imp boxes if you have them

General non-prayer equipment:
-Dagon'hai robes/Elite Black knight armour (HIGHLY recommended if you don't want to die a swift death)
-Glory/fury
-Fire cape/accumulator
-[various weaponry]
-[various shielding]
-RFD gloves
-Dragon boots/ranger boots/infinity boots
-Ring of Wealth

General prayer equipment:
-Dagon'hai robes/Elite Black knight armour in inventory (recommended for the trip into the desired spot)
-Mitre/Helm of Neitiznot
-Glory/fury/Stole
-Trimmed skillcape/Fire cape/accumulator
-[various weaponry]
-[various shielding]
-Proselyte/monk robe top
-Proselyte cuisse/monk robe bottom
-RFD gloves
-Dragon boots/ranger boots/infinity boots
-Ring of Wealth

Salamander method:
Equip a red/black salamander of your preference with the appropriate ammo (Tarromin/Harralander tar) and trap a knight behind a corner of some sort. Once there, simply switch attack styles between slash/ranged/magic, although you only need 2 types. Use the ones your character is most adept at.

Halberd/crossbow method:
Equip a dragon halberd, and alternate attacking with it and a rune crossbow with (preferably emerald (e)) bolts. Only a weapon swap is needed. Because both weapons are pretty slow, you need not lose attack turns.

Crossbow/spell method:
Equip a rune crossbow, and manually fire off spells when the knights change prayer (fire wave/Crest'd fire bolt recommended). Simply continue attacking when the knights begin to protect from magic.

Knife-dart/whip method:
Equip knives, and continue to attack the knights on rapid until their prayer drops, which should be about 20 seconds. After which, continuously attack it with the flicky toy. You will necessarily need prayer or food.

Verac method:
Equip full veracs (You will need to pray; they are now aggressive), and attack away.

Rune crossbow/Dharok method
Alternate between Dharok's Greataxe and Rune crossbow for attacking; you will need to pray since they are now aggressive and this method works best at low hitpoints. Zamorak brews are recommended.

Godsword/Crystal bow method
Equip a godsword, and alternate attacking with it and a crystal bow. Only a weapon swap is needed. Because both weapons are rather quick, you may lose server cycles.

To get there:
-Go to Black Knight's Fortress. Bronze medium helm and iron chainbody not needed as you can just enter when all of the fortress guards are simultaneously dead.
-Enter the wall.
-Go downstairs.
-Go down the orb trapdoor.

-You are now in the fortress. If you are safespotting, jump across the bridge and find somewhere with a pole, and lure a knight. Dance around the pole until you trap the knight via a corner, and fire away.

-If you are not safespotting/are using non-protective armour, you must go deeper into the dungeon with areas solely filled with knights and no rangers or mages.

I hope this has helped; if anything is missing, please post about it.

Considering how they don't actually "pray", but rather becomes immune to attacks, it doesn't.

(A test confirms my conjecture.)

SO if they don't actually pray, does Verac still hold true? Have you tested or going on principal?

Veracs actually work; its special ability simply guarantees a hit on enemies at random.

Yes, I noticed that this weekend while working on my White Knight ranking. I camped out with a unicorn, pray pots and verac's was there a couple of hours.

I also camped out at the dagon'hai monks to see if they dropped any dagon'hai robes, appears to be an urban myth. I killed over 300 hundred and will go back for a few hundred more to make sure I id a decent sample.
