It wasn't until I got 88 summoning last night that this wheel in my head started turning, and it's mostly math, so bear with me.

I have long used sara pots as a way to heal myself and stay for prolonged trips at gwd or killing the king black dragon, etc. But I had an idea last night.

Unicorn heals 15% of your health per special.

Summoning potions restore some of your (summon) special bar.

Summoning potion (3) = 1523gp

So the price per does is 507gp.

A drink from your summoning potion restores 15 points of your special bar and a unicorn special uses 20 points to work.

SO, in this case you pay 74gp per hitpoint. It's alot of math, but trust me on this one, lol.

If you were to use sara pots for healing you would be paying 84gp per hitpoint!

Now we can't rule out the fact that sara potions do increase your defense 20%, but the fact that you have the drink a super restore afterwards kinda lessens that factor....

EDIT.............................

Man i forgot to add in the fact that you still have to pay for the scroll, which costs 367 gp...............its all edited now

Here's an added bonus. You could take 10 summoning potion (4)'s and a huge stack of scrolls and (I think) that is more healing than 5 sara brews and 5 super restores. (It's 3 am and I don't feel like doing the math right now :P )

Well, how many would it take to be better than sara brews and restores for inventory space?

I don't think this will be very useful at GWD. At least not as a sole healing method. Drinking 2 doses and then waiting 3 seconds for the scroll to activate can get you koed. Maybe in combination with brews it could help extend trips. At low hitting monsters like the KBD or miths I see this as being a ton more useful.

Another thought, is the 15 special move points common for everyone, or do you get more with a higher summoning level?

I am not sure, but as you must have 88 summon to use it anyways....lol

Also, upon thinking, a sara brew is going to be more hp per *bottle* than a summoning potion it kind of kills the cheapening factor...but it can still be used in many other scenarios

I applaud your math, and seeing as it is 3am here, I couldn't use my brain that much. One of the things I love about this community is learning little tidbits about skill I have yet to touch ,summoning in this case, so that when (if ever) i get to 88 summoning, I will know all of it's advantages, such as this. So, thank you Noxrid for this incite. *a few claps*

You also forget that a Super Restore gives back prayer...

Jam Boy69er and I did this same math the other day while playing ping pong:

The sara brew restores 64 hp; the summoning potion does 45. An equal combination of saras and restores does heal less than 10 summoning potions; the problem is that you still need to restore prayer somehow. A more practical combination is something like 4 summoning potions and 3 each of sara/restore, which increases your total healing by about 16%.

For the effort though, one does wonder about the fruit bat...

You are forgetting that you get the special bar back automatically; and rather quickly I might add.

It takes 2 minutes for the spec bar to recharge.

I forgot the best application for this method, so I'm posting again.

A no food duel tournament, where pots are legal and summoning is legal. This method heals you 45 hp every 30 seconds or so. Essentially a guaranteed win.

No food means NOTHING that heals HP.

Sara brews aren't allowed in a no food tournament even when pots are enabled. (I think redemption isn't either)

Well, not *nothing* -- SGS spec works.

Well, that IS a one-time bonus. Redemption and those scrolls work continuously.

I don't understand ppl's obsession with the titan spec, it's really not that good at all. If you did it PERFECTLY on time, it'd be about the same rate of healing as the bunyip. But that's pretty much impossible. Combat-wise, the elemental titans can barely touch high-levels at all in pvp, so I cant imagine them doing any dmg on a gwd boss.

It has a few excellent uses that the bunyip does not provide for me.

1) It heals above max.
2) If both the bunyip and the titan are used perfectly, the titan heals 50% more.
3) In a no-pots duel , even at my "relatively mediocre" defence level, I get 12 free defence levels.
4) It provides healing on-demand, so to speak. If I need 16 HP NOW, the titan gives it to me a lot faster than the bunyip (10 secs vs 2 min). Obviously this isn't continuous, but you get the idea.
5) Obviously you won't use the spec every time you can, but the bunyip also wastes healing when you are at max, so that's not too big a deal.
6) In a no-food duel, you can't eat raw food using the bunyip (I tried), so in your first duel in a no-food tourney (especially if there is no healing in between rounds), this duel is important. You can get the 24 extra HP from the titan and only about 6 from the bunyip, again, WHEN YOU WANT IT.

So yeah, I like my PvP, so most my examples come from there. I've burned through well over 100 bunyip pouches; I'll admit they have their uses (waterfiends and slayer), and certainly are the cheapest and laziest form of healing that exists. With armour off, the titans hit fine in PvP (with armour on practically nothing hits that I've seen, never seen a geyser titan though), but their def boost and healing is stronger than you think.

Now that I've hijacked the hell out of this thread, allow me to remind the general public that, (unlike the bunyip), the elemental titan spec works the same way as Noxrid's unicorn trick does in a no-food (but pots/summoning on) duel.

LOL, I love your sense of humor lord klotski.

Also , one would wonder about monsters that produce, like the spider etc...think about it.
