I've gone through Jagex's accounts and made various graphs and such from them. As these are business years 2007 means April 1 2006 to March 31 2007 and so on.

Various financial indicators.

While advertising and subscription revenue are both shown to be going up, the data indicates that there is a trend towards subscriptions becoming a larger proportion of their primary revenue.

Image
For a long time Andrew had a majority stakeholding in the company, but after Insight invested in Jagex he merely has the largest share. However, Paul and Andrew working together still have over 50%.

Image
At first Constant was the only director, but in 2005 Andrew and Paul joined the board along with the two people from Insight who invested in Jagex.

What do they mean by 'second game' - MechScape? FunOrb?

If you want to say RS is "ruined" then you would have to blame it on growth. No entity or particular business decision is at fault for the game as it is today. They grew and decided they wanted to compete as something other then a small-time company. Change is inevidable.

You know how tight-lipped Jagex can be... :)

From my experience, Jagex's attitude is closer to "if it ain't broke, we'll break it by golly!"

Ehehehehe.... I'm so tempted to go out in conspiracy mode again! MUAHAHAHA  :P

I guess it's just coincidence, from what I see of this :| It depends on how you define "ruined" ultimately.

Jagex's finances, ownership, operation and trends

Fantastic Info!!

Does the 67% turnover reflect the free players becoming members or the turnover in players that left the game due to the January 2007 update. jk...

As I read this I see the Crimson Permanent Assurance sailing the high seas towards Jagex headquarters.

And it really makes me wonder what the giant staff of Customer Services does all day.

Awesome information!

Did anyone else notice that Customer Service has the most employees? :o I wish it was development and technical in the lead. :?

If you want the latest on how many are employed in each area then check out http://www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarti ... cle_id=746 (the credits).

When I calculated it a while back was 54% support, 42% Development and 4% publishing, but since then things have changed. They created Human Resources from what used to be headed under Publishing and have a lot more jobs in those two departments, as well as having more managerial posts within the other departments.

Oh, and remember that some of the graphics, content and QA staff (around 5 QA staff on last count) are working on MechScape and soon people will be working on ThirdScape as well, whereas the customer support staff are currently only working on RuneScape and FunOrb.

These are the people who make Runescape, they directly affect EVERYTHING.
